Hi, I’m Surgey,
I am a psychotherapist. I graduated from the University of West Florida with a Master’s in Psychology in 2016; and opened my private practice in 2018. I have been working as a Mental Health Counselor for over six years.
As A Therapist...
I help women heal from the aftermath of trauma and help them cope with depression and anxiety. Working as a therapist, I learned that most of my clients struggled to create healthy relationships with themselves and others.
A Client Once Told Me
“I have a family, a husband, three kids, and even with a full house, I am alone. No one understands me; at times, I cannot understand myself. I am constantly angry; my husband and I often argue over the same issue, yell too much at my kids, don’t have time for friends, and don’t have boundaries with my family or my husband’s family. I go from work to home, and I do so much for everyone. I feel overwhelmed, tired, irritated, and frustrated. And on top of everything, I feel guilty and worried about not being a good mom and wife”.
History Has Not Been Kind to Women
Yes, things are better for us now, at least in many countries some laws protect us, many women are getting educated, we are empowered to have a career and a family, or either one, and we can exert our right to choose. Nevertheless, even today, gender roles and social expectations are difficult to navigate. Hence, most of the clients in my private practice are women between the ages of 25 to 45 who feel overwhelmed, frustrated and alone.
Trying to find the balance between being authentic and being there for others?
I know, I’ve been there!
I was raised to be a caregiver and a role model. And there were positive things that come with that; one of them is that I grew up to be a responsible, caring, and independent woman. There were also some negative aspects; for example, as a Latin and only daughter, I internalized all the “I have to…,and I should…” that comes with my culture. And without noticing, I was starting to disappear to become what I thought I was supposed to be.
As a result, I found myself believing that choosing me was selfish, and I felt guilty at first and then resentful when I realized I didn’t need to feel guilty. And neither do you.
It is time to put yourself first. As a matter of fact, there is no other way. It is time for you to become the best version of yourself and create the life you want and deserve.
That’s where I come in!
I teach women practical skills and support them while taking active steps to strengthen their confidence and create a life of authenticity, balance, and meaningful connections.
Helping women is my passion. I love my job as a mental health counselor, and I wanted to reach women beyond my therapy room. I decided to use my degree in psychology, my clinical experience doing individual and couples therapy, my expertise and skill to create coaching programs and help women beyond my private practice.
My mission is to help women find authenticity in their life and love the person they become without carrying shame and guilt for not fitting society’s and/or their family’s expectations. And help women achieve balance by practicing wellness and learning the connection between their emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well-being; and to have a healthy relationship with themselves and their loved ones.
When you invite me in your journey, as your coach, I will guide you in cultivating positive habits, challenging negative thoughts, learning emotional regulation, increasing self-esteem, practicing self-love and acceptance, and learning crucial social skills. My curriculum includes self-exploration, improving positive habits, learning coping skills to manage current life situations healthily, and developing or maintaining healthy relationships.
How does it work?
Maybe for you it looks like this…
Courses and/or Group Programs
Perhaps you prefer to hyper-focus on one issue and work intensively in a short period of time. You know exactly what you want and need to improve in any area of your life, and you are ready to put time, effort, and energy into seeing results. Maybe you prefer to work alone in one of my courses and complete it on your own time, or you rather go through the course with me and participate in group coaching calls where you can ask me questions in real-time and find support working with others who are on a similar journey.
In my courses, I teach intensive interventions, including self-exploration, increasing positive habits, learning coping skills to manage a specific situation healthily, and learning essential skills to develop AND maintain a healthy relationship with yourself and others.
Or, perhaps you would rather work long-term with me and develop long-lasting results in multiple areas of your life in a less intensive but ongoing teaching style. In my membership, you will find community, accountability, guidance, resources, and support to work in fostering positive and healthier relationships with yourself and others.
In this community, you will have access to a professional through a private Facebook page, you will receive monthly training in one of three areas, and you can participate in weekly coaching calls to learn and practice skills and ask questions.
With the Authentic, Balanced and Connected membership, you will have the support of small groups and accountability partners while you take active steps toward becoming the best version of you, take charge of your career, relationships, body, and dreams, and take your life to the next level.
My education, training and experience qualify me to walk along with you while you achieve your higher potential. It would be my honor to guide and support you during this process.
